Welcome To The Garberville Theatre!

Come for the popcorn, stay for the movie...

Now Playing Banner

We are a family-owned theatre in the town of Garberville, CA. Our theatre has been a part of our small community since its opening day on August 2nd 1935!

Now in its 80th year, it is one of the very few remaining single-screen theatres in northern California that still retains much of it's original atmosphere and charm.

We offer first-run Hollywood movies, host speakers and events, present concerts, and with our new sound system, we can really rock you out! Local schools hold their rehearsals here and put on plays, so we have had many of our young drama students on our stage at one time or another in their lives. Our local community credit union holds their annual membership meetings here, with members seeing the movie free. It is always fun to fill up the house with our community members.

Over the years we've enjoyed numerous concerts, from NPK to David Lindley, the Gospel Hummingbirds, and many more. Having George Winston with his piano on our stage was a real treat!

Our snack bar features delicious organic popcorn, offered with real butter or spices of your choice, and our varied mix of sweets, ice creams, and refreshments are sure to satisfy almost any taste. Our staff consists mostly of youth from the community, for most it is their first job, and we really enjoy working together. We consider all of our staff to be family, and care about each other as if we are.

Owner Brigette Brannan shows her tenacity by keeping the theatre up and running, as the costs of operating a movie theatre can be quite high. Her love of the community, and persistance in keeping it open are apparent in all she does.

We invite you to explore our web site, attend a show, enjoy the popcorn, and return often.

Thanks!

To All Patrons - Please Note:

You may have noticed the Garberville Theatre is Rarely Showing Movies these days. This is due to the recent conversion of the film industry to an ALL DIGITAL format, requiring that we either purchase a digital projector, run only increasingly hard to find 35mm prints - or simply "go dark".

In the meantime, while 35mm films are scarce, to keep the theatre alive and running, support community-based events, and simply to HAVE FUN, we're hosting a variety of music, gaming, and other LIVE activities, as outlined on our Coming Soon Page.

Each event you attend helps us to come one step closer to our goal of staying in business and insuring we can remain a valuable asset to the community. Thank you!

Our heartfelt thanks also go out to Michael Way of OneWay productions, and the many local businesses and independent event organizers who are helping to raise awareness, provide sponsoring funds, and organize these ongoing benefit events. Thank you all!

We'll continue to look for available 35mm films we can run (which may be far and few between), until we aquire the funding to purchase a digital projector so we may resume our commitment to providing the community with exciting first-run movie presentations.

As soon as we know more... we’ll post it right here! For additional infomation see this news post: "Go Digital or Go Dark..."
